A Wilderness First Aid Class has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 5th & 6th. The number of members attending from each chapter will determine the location of the class which may include camping onsite.

The cost of the class is $150.00 for 10 attendees or more, which includes your certification and this will need to be paid prior to the class. The details of payment methods will be announced at later date.

Please post if you are interested in this class.

Description of the Wilderness First Aid Class

Ozark Safety and Rescue Educators will be conducting a 2 day Wilderness First Aid Course with
an additional CPR course. The dates will be the evening of March 4th for CPR and the full two days on March 5th & 6th for the Wilderness First Aid certification course.

The lead instructor for the course will be Tom Burroughs, Director of OSRE and a 25 year
emergency services responder. Tom is a National Registry EMT, with additional certifications in
Wilderness and Remote care, as well as Prehospital Trauma Life Support. Tom currently runs the Washington County Arkansas Search and Rescue team.

The 2 day WFA course is non¬stop action packed with hands on training and scenarios. We focus
on the most common back¬country injuries and give you the opportunity to actually practice just
about everything you learn in the program. If you like lecture and PowerPoint this is NOT the class for you....

As you see in news reports and message boards, it doesn't take long for a day trip to turn into a lot more than you bargained for! We teach proven, easy to remember techniques to deal with just about anything you might encounter, from fractures to anaphylaxis. This course will cover all our standard syllabus as well as additional key skills for off roaders including dealing with wrecks and removing injured people from vehicles.

The cost of the WFA course is 150.00 includes your textbook and all materials.

The CPR/AED course will be the Friday evening before the WFA course and will be a standard course plus additional training on dealing with drowning, trauma and lightning strike incidents. The cost for this will be 30.00 per person and includes certification cards.

Sounds like good skills to have, especially in some of the remote places we end up. Count me in.
