Ok, so after driving theĀ Series IIIĀ for a short distance (very short) I heard a clunk and stopped driving. Now when I let off the clutch, the vehicle doesn't move. I lifted the flap under the middle seat so I could see the rear drive shaft, and when I let off the clutch, its spinning! Yet the vehicle doesn't move... I'm assuming the rear 3rd member bit the big one, but as I'm new to this vehicle, is there anything else that could be causing this problem??

One axle could be broke and spinning. They are easy to check on a series, I don't think you have to take the wheel off. A few bolts on the end of the hub and you should be able to yank them out and have a look.

Not sure why an axle would break going down the street though, probably the spiders in the diff.

I think it was the axle as well. I will take a look at it next weekend when I'm back in Plano. Atleast by locking the front hubs and putting it in 4wd, I was able to limp it around to the garage. Everything from carbs, to slave cylinders, and now axles... I'm learning it all with this Series

Ok, so I got to take apart the rear this weekend and found that the long half shaft exploded itself and that one of the u-joints in the rear drive shaft was busted. Thanks to Mat who hooked me up with a used drive shaft and a temporary half shaft, the truck is almost all put back together. All that is left now is to fill it will gear oil and put the drive shaft back on, and hopefully its road worthy again!

Got my new halfshfts in the mail, installed them, fixed my slave cylinder for the clutch with the help of Mat, and now...
